How can I find out how to do a reverse email check.?

I have been receiving some very odd emails, all from the same person. I have been told I can do 'a reverse email check', which will tell me who is sending these emails or/and where they are from. All the companies which I have found on the net doing this sort of thing seem to be American. Is there anyone based in the UK who does this. I know I will have to pay, that is not a problem. Any ideas?

How can I find out how to do a reverse email check.?

It works well for me

Reply:If you use "Outlook Express" You can right click on the email - select "Properties" then choose "Details" a note pad document will open with all the sender details Including their mail client and ISP. Just write to their ISP
Reply:just look at the ip address and track that.

you will be able to track them down to an area of whatever town they are in,

but to get the full address you will need a court order.
Reply:Just send them a reply thru http://www.didtheyreadit.com/ (free trial) and you`ll see their email address, their location and everything else you want to know
Reply:You wont be able for find out who the exact person is --- but a free way of finding out at least where the emails are originating from (which may give you an idea) is to use your email headers.

In your email program (Outlook, etc) look under "options" for "turn on full headers". What this will do is give you a very long header for each email you receive but it will include the IP of the original sender. (Once you know this much you can turn off the full headers again if you dont want to keep seeing them). Maybe print the email though with the full headers for future reference.

Take the IP info you gained from the email header of the suspicious email, and enter it into a IP trace type program. A good reputable one is http://tools.whois.net/whoisbyip/ Enter the IP and click "search".

You will get a listing of who owns that IP address (could be a internet provider, or a university or a corporation) along with the contact info for the owner of that IP. If it is a University or a Internet Service Provider you could contact them using their "abuse" phone/email contact info (which will be listed) and let them know you are receiving questionable emails from one of their users. They will ask for more information from the email headers, but they can usually track it down to the exact customer and they will deal with it. They will not tell you who the person is - but they usually have their own way of dealing with people abusing their systems.
