Did I get the job if the company sent me an email saying they are currently conducting a background check?

In the e-mail they also said my interview went well and they look forward to seeing me soon. Oh, yeah and the store hasn't opened yet it's just about to open in November 2008.

YEa theres a good chance, cause background checks aren't cheap, I do all the finances for a company i'm with and background checks run anywhere from 75-125 per person. Good luck
Reply:sounds like you are in the process of being hired...if you do not have an official offer (whether verbal or written)...meaning you know what day you start, your salary, etc. you have not been hired yet. even if you do have that information, you are still subject to what they find in the background check...sounds like you may have a pending offer?
Reply:Usually if they get to the bakcground check (which cost them money to do), it means that they are very seriously considering you. But I would wait until they give you start date before you go spending the first paycheck.
Reply:Sounds like you are very close, however you can't be sure unless they give you a job offer in writing with the job title, start date and salary/benfits information.
Reply:It means you are almost there. You must still pass the background check and the store must still open before you can truly say it's yours.
Reply:Unless the BI (background investigation) turns out bad - like a police

rap sheet that you failed to tell them - then consider yourself hired. Congratulations!
Reply:MOst likely you have a position with the company.
Reply:It means, you have probably been shortlisted with one or more other candidates. You are almost there. Good Luck !
Reply:You have a job ,subject to the check.
