You can't. I use Outlook Express. You can request a "Return Receipt" but if they don't check the mail, they will never know.
It is like Voice Mail if they don't check, they don't know. Mail that I receive in Outlook also show up in Yahoo so I get it twice.

Why does Yahoo have to log me in twice to check my email?
I will sign in and click on my mail and it will have to sign me in again and THEN I have to click on the inbox for my messages. This is very time consuming and annoying.

You can hit "sign out" , then "sign in" and sign in as a different user. Check your email once you are signed in as yourself, and then don't forget to sign out again.
If the issue is that you don't want ot sign out the from the other person's account because of all the settings that risk going haywire (like Launchcast signing out or something), try opening up a different browser, such as FireFox and signing in there.
If someone is signed into Verizon Yahoo! for DSL via the Verizon Yahoo! for DSL browser, they will be signed into that account in Internet Explorer, Launchcast Music Engine, and some other IE based services, but they won't necessarily be signed into Yahoo! services that aren't interrelated: for example, when you are signed into Yahoo! via Internet Explorer, you aren't necessarily signed into YIM or FireFox, as they read their cookies independently. So, if you open up Firefox and sign in there, it won't effect any other services that the other person is signed in on.

Is there a site where older people can go to check out if a letter received in their email is ligitamate?
I have been getting a ton of mail (spam) offering lots of money. I am smart enough to know these are scams, but, after listening to a group of older people discussing them I realized that a lot of older people fall for this stuff. For example winning a lottery in africa. Is there a site we can circulate so they can see this is junk mail?

I know Gmail does this, but I hate it's interface. I like hotmail's interface, but you have to pay to do this, which would be FINE if I could figure out how to upgrade to a paying account!!! Anyone know of any other web-bases services that will also harvest my pop accounts?

It is now possible to use your Outlook account to with your Yahoo! paid subscription email accounts that have the POP3 access and forwarding features. This will hence allow you to receive your Yahoo! messages directly on Outlook from any Internet connection around the world.
You can do this by accessing an authenticated SMTP server that your Yahoo! mail provides you with and will hence let you to send your email messages by making use of Outlook from the Yahoo! account by the means of another Internet service.
Step 1: Configuration of your Yahoo! account
1. Go to your Tools menu and choose “Email Accounts”
2. Select “Add a new email account” and click “Next”
3. Select “POP3” and click “Next”
4. Hence, go to the “User Information” section to type in your full name in the field labeled “Your Name”.
5. In the other field labeled “Email address”, enter your whole email address (e.g. johnsmith@outlookemail.com)
6. Then, go to the “Server Information” section and in the field labeled “Incoming mail server (POP3)”, enter the server name that matches your email address (e.g. If your email address is johnsmith@yahoo.com, type in “pop.mail.yahoo.com” in the “Incoming mail server (POP3)” section. Consequently, if you are registered at yahoo.co.uk, type in “pop.mail.yahoo.uk” in the “Incoming mail server (POP3)” section).
7. In the field labeled “outgoing mail server (SMTP), enter the server name that matches your email address. (e.g. If your email address is johnsmith@yahoo.com, type in “smtp.mail.yahoo.com” in the “Outgoing mail server (SMTP)” section. Consequently, if you are registered at yahoo.co.uk, type in “smtp.mail.yahoo.uk” in the “Outgoing mail server (SMTP)” section).
8. When done, go to the “Logon information” section and in the field labeled “User name”, enter your current Yahoo! username only (e.g. johnsmith).
9. In the field labeled “Password”, enter your current password and check the option “Remember password”.
Step 2: Check that the account is working
1. Under the section labeled “Test Account Settings”, choose this option. If any required information is missing, you will be told so and called to enter them correctly.
2. Hence, choose the option “More Settings”
3. Go to the “General” tab and in field labeled “Mail Account”, enter “Yahoo! Mail”
4. Hence, select the “Outgoing Server” tab and check the option labeled “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication”.
5. When done, choose “Next” and click “Finish

That sometimes happens to me. Be patient. If it doesn't come up in say, 5 minutes, sign out and then log back in. =)

Any time day or night if its 6 am when I get up every morning or when I get home around 5 or even at lunch time when I come home and from 5 pm on I check it periodically.. not that I don't have a life I am just always on my pc researching for better jobs or what not trying to make stuff happen and I just happen to get on my email and or yahoo answers lol

In general, no - you'll have to send an email to it. This will only tell you it is in use (i.e. hasn't been deleted yet).
It won't of course tell you if it is current (i.e. still in use by the user).

I have been receiving some very odd emails, all from the same person. I have been told I can do 'a reverse email check', which will tell me who is sending these emails or/and where they are from. All the companies which I have found on the net doing this sort of thing seem to be American. Is there anyone based in the UK who does this. I know I will have to pay, that is not a problem. 6. You've enabled mail forwarding.

Yahoo servers are updating the NEW Mail that replaces Beta Mail. Expect lag or
outages. I doubt if some or all Yahoo Mail functions work at all.
Wait up to 30 days when all updates are complete. Yahoo Mail is not just one server.
Each Server gets all updates by sometimes taking it off the air. ( Have you ever put an
operating system on a PC? Sort off like that but bigger.)
Then having to transfer each an every file back to all accounts.

There is a way to do this, I found it once, but now can't find it. It changes the Check mail button and you see 2 of your accounts listed. I have Yahoo Mail Plus.

Is this from your personal computer only ? I would suggest buying a good virus/security software package for your local store and doing a full scan of your computer. If you have done this already then perhaps sending an email to the helpline of your chosen email provider through a different user login and explain the situation and see if they can troubleshoot it for you. Perhaps there is a keylogger on your computer thats noting all your password and user name details but until you know for sure whats happening I would advise you not to type your credit card details into that system or send/recieve any vital information through any email even ones that are still working fine .
Worst case scenario is wiping everything off your system and starting from scratch and getting a new email address but definately the first thing I would do would be contact whatever email service you use ( hotmail / yahoo etc ) and see what they can tell you. If its outlook express then chances are pretty high that you have a trojan/virus on your computer which should be picked up by the scan.
Never be cheap when it comes to getting good security software..always splash out that 50 bucks !
I don't know that much about computers but I hope this is somewhat helpful.

In the free yahoo, the ads will appear on the right side, but if you click that little black arrow between the email and the ad, the ad will disappear and you'll have the message full screen. It takes an extra second - but it is free!

is nothing in the
"body" of the message where you would expect to find text, etc.
Move your mouse to the area of the expected "body" of the message and right-click...on
the menu that appears, click on "Encoding"...on the menu that appears, if "Auto Select"
